Each June, we celebrate National Trails Day by promoting trail conservation, advocacy, and community. One such trail that preserves its surrounding history and communities is El Camino Real de los Tejas National Trail. Today, the trail’s 2,580 miles can be explored from a car, horseback, or on your own two feet. The Grassroots Historian will explore the settlement history and cultures that developed along the El Camino Real de los Tejas as it expanded to connect the Rio Grande to the little Spanish frontier capital of Presidio de los Adaes in modern-day Louisiana.
