Director

The Bath Twp. Public Library Board of Trustees is searching for their next director. The application deadline is May 20th, with candidates being considered in the order they are received. Don't delay.
The Bath Twp. Public Library was formed through a grassroots effort in 2017 and has grown and expanded considerably with 8 staff, 20 friends of the library, and a community comprising of over 12-thousand residents in beautiful Bath Twp. Michigan.  With their first director moving onto another opportunity, the Library and Board of Trustees are ready for its next director to lead this established library into its next phase of success.  Are you ready to lead? 

Bath Township Public Library resides conveniently in the center of Michigan’s lower peninsula, ten miles North of East Lansing and Michigan State University.  A rural setting that boasts the benefits of a strong sense of community, outdoor recreation (e.g., Park Lake, Rose Lake, golf courses, hiking),  low cost of living and property taxes, and growth in industry to support the revenue needs of the library, this is an ideal opportunity for a director seeking a new opportunity or a librarian interested in taking that next step in their career to become a library director.  The Board of Trustees are committed to the orientation and mentorship of the next director. 
This is a full-time, exempt position, with a starting salary of $50,000.  Additionally, a generous benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings match is included. 

Candidates must meet and maintain the requirements set by the Library of Michigan for a Class 4 library: MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution, minimum of Level 2 Professional Certificate from the Library of Michigan, 2 years of library experience in a public library setting, up-to-date with issues and trends in libraries, and familiarity with small-town libraries. Ideal candidates will possess excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and be able to develop and manage the operating budget while inspiring staff and serving as the ambassador of the library throughout the community.
