These letters were written by Emily (Parsons) Coney to her very dear friend, Caroline “Charlotte” (Holt) Flemings (Bill’s great-great-grandmother). Both were schoolteachers in eastern Massachusetts, and eventually married and had children. Included in these letters are numerous examples which express a very deep religious faith and display an impressive spiritual maturity. Note that scans and transcriptions of these letters are available (at no charge) from the Library of Virginia Richmond’s website.
